The principal objective of the program (combined bachelor’s and master’s) is to train medical doctors who will have theoretical and practical multidisciplinary knowledge as well as methodological expertise. They will demonstrate professional abilities in decision making and operational autonomy for health promotion, prevention and the treatment of diseases in Italy and internationally. The course trains students in the methodological foundations of scientific research and forms the basis for lifelong learning. The degree program consists of 360 European Credits Transfer System credits (ECTS), in accordance with current European legislation. At least 60 ECTS are to be acquired through training activities aimed at the maturation of specific professional skills. The professional activities are essentially carried out in the Operative Units of the University Hospital in Messina, where care and assistance to the patient are combined with teaching and scientific research, and in General Practitioner offices.

An Italian secondary school diploma or a certified foreign equivalent demonstrating 12 years of study is required. It is mandatory to pass the IMAT (International Medical Admission Test) exam for admission.
No specific English language certificate required.
The scientific and technical terms used in the course access test are considered be on a higher level than the B2 level of knowledge required for admission to the International degree program in Medicine and Surgery.
UniME students have the opportunity to participate in the Erasmus+ Mobility programme both for study and training. Calls are published on the site twice per year. Another opportunity for students is the UniME Funded programme “Students Around the World” (SAW) call for scholarships for study at the extra-European universities in the context of international cooperation agreements. According to your family income, there is an opportunity to apply for a scholarship from ERSU Messina office. ERSU offers to international students a variety of financial aid: scholarships, exemptions, reduction of fees and other forms of concession. ERSU scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit and family economic situation. The value of the scholarship can reach up to 2,600 plus free accommodation for one year. Students can obtain 4 ECTS (25 hours for each ECTS), within the framework of the “Electives”, by carrying out internships in clinical departments or in research laboratories of the University of Messina, upon presentation of a request to the professor responsible of the activity.

If it is being offered for free, half or 90% of scheduled calls won’t be respected by the potential students.
